Veneers are used to change the shape or colour of teeth, close small spaces or create a more even smile. You can think of them as a false nail for your tooth. Our laboratory will custom-make a very thin porcelain layer using the measurements we give them. We then permanently attach your veneer to your tooth, changing your smile. You will be quite involved in choosing the shape and colour of your veneers – describe what you are hoping to achieve or bring a picture. It will help us to achieve the smile you want.
Crowns are porcelain shells which resemble natural teeth. They are used to strengthen teeth that have been weakened by large fillings, root canal treatments, are broken from biting on something hard or damaged from an accident. Your new crown will wrap around all surfaces of your tooth making it much stronger.
Our crowns fit very well because we use a 3D digital scanning machine to take measurements of your tooth. Our laboratory use this precise information to make your crown from porcelain giving it strength and making it look like your natural teeth.
If you look after your new crown well it will last you for many years. We guarantee our crowns for five years – ask for your copy of our guarantee.
If you need a root canal the blood vessels and nerves which are inside the roots of your tooth are infected or the tissue has died. To cure this infection and save your tooth we need to remove these blood vessels and nerves, clean the inside of the roots of your tooth and seal it to prevent re-infection.
Decay, left untreated, can leave you needing root canal treatment. The bacteria that caused the filling initially, progresses deeper, eventually reaching the internal parts of your tooth and causing infection.
Teeth requiring root canals should be treated as soon as possible, delaying treatment can lead to bone loss, loose teeth and infection spreading to other teeth.
There can be many causes of jaw pain including:
Subconscious grinding or clenching of your teeth due to stress when you are asleep. This causes irreversible damage to your teeth. It can be prevented by wearing a night-guard when you sleep. We will make this for you and it will prevent you from wearing the enamel from your teeth.
Your temporomandibular joints connect the jawbone to the skull. Temporomandibular joint disorder (TMJD) causes symptoms including pain and clicking in the joint, earache, headache and stiff or sore muscles. A custom made night-guard can help you with TMJD, your dentist can take measurements and supply you with a discreet night-guard to relieve muscle tension.
